Here are 5 mowing tips to keep your lawn in perfect shape:

  1. Mow at a high setting.  This helps prevent weeds and provides a deeper root system for the grass.  Aim to cut 1/3 of the lengths of the grass to allow clippings to decompose and return nutrients to the soil.
  2. Avoid hot & wet. Mowing at the hottest time of day can damage your grass, and mowing wet grass can damage your mower.
  3. Stop with the stripes. Varying your mowing pattern actually helps prevent soil compaction and keeps grass healthier.  When we mow your lawn, we switch up the pattern every week, so the pattern is never repeated in the course of a month.
  4. Sharpen blades every 4 – 6 weeks. Your grass will thank you.
  5. Mow across hills only with a walk-behind. If you use a riding mower and have hills, mow up and down instead of across.
